Presence (and getting people to 'buy in')

In today’s fast-paced business world, it’s easy to get caught up in the endless cycle of emails, meetings, and to-do lists. But amidst the chaos, one crucial element often gets overlooked: presence. Being truly “present” in a business context isn’t just about showing up; it’s about engaging, influencing, and connecting with others on a deeper level. It’s the difference between a forgettable interaction and one that inspires action and builds lasting relationships.

So, how do you cultivate this powerful presence? It boils down to a combination of intentional communication, confident body language, and strategic use of tools.

The elements covered in my packages can be broken down as:

  • Presence Coaching (the complete programme)
  • Public Speaking (designed more for beginners or those with a nervous disposition)
  • Presentation Skills (more intermediate package that looks more at the relaying of information in a business context)
The Art of Articulate Communication

Your words are powerful, but how you deliver them is equally important.  I can help you; Speak with Clarity and Conviction, Engage with Active Listening to help you answer the questions asked effectively and, Understand the importance of Dynamics in your vocal delivery.

The Language of the Body

Most people are unaware but your non-verbal cues often speak louder than your words.  I will make you more aware of; How much you engage with Eye-Contact, When you are using Open and Closed Posturing, Using Gestures and Facial Expressions more effectively. When you speak, you can pull people in easier by making your physical presence more appealing and relaxing.

Strategic Use of Tools and Props

While your personal and vocal presence is paramount, the right tools can significantly enhance your message.  I can share my experiences on; How to avoid ‘Death-by-Powerpoint’, How to get the most out of visual ‘props’, Useful Printouts and a Fools Guide to FlipCharts.

Being “present” in business is a skill that can be developed and refined over time. By consciously focusing on your communication, body language, and the strategic use of tools, you can cultivate a presence that commands attention, builds trust, and ultimately, helps you get people on board with your vision. It’s an investment in yourself and your professional success, and one that will yield significant returns.
