How to be more memorable...

Be more memorable

It turns out that I am quite a memorable person, which sometimes puts me at a disadvantage… as I am great at remembering faces but not names (I blame teaching for this as I have had to recall hundreds of names over the years). Often I am in a situation where I am faced with someone who greets me with “Hello Jim, how are you?” and I have to reply with “I’m great thanks. How’s life with you?”… completely avoiding using their name but telling my face to react as if they were a recently seen friend.

In business, being memorable is vital for the longevity of any company, as it is an essential part of the best advertising you can get… the referral! If people remember you and what you do, providing you’re being recalled for all the right reasons (unfortunately if you provide a terrible service, you definitely will not be forgotten due the brain’s Negativity Bias) then you can get untold amounts of free publicity.

So the question is, how do you become more memorable?

The answer is, ultimately, book yourself on one of my courses, or buy my book (when I get around to finishing it). There are many elements to being remembered within business and life, but they boil down to several factors:

  • Be dynamic – both in the way you speak and how you carry yourself physically.
  • Be heard – projection and clarity when you talk is super important when communicating with others.
  • Be warm – having an approachable ‘energy’ about you enables people to connect with you quicker and become more receptive to your ideas and services.
  • Be trustworthy – back up what you say with actual results. Case studies are worth their weight in gold and shows people that you don’t just talk the talk.

If being memorable is something you would like to put into use, then get in touch and we can have a chat about how that would work for you.

Jim is honestly one of the best coaches I’ve ever met. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, inspiring, and has supported me massively with my confidence. His level of expertise is second to none, with a huge background in acting, teaching, and supporting businesses. I knew straight away he was the right person to help me. Thank you so much Jim, I truly appreciate it.
